Alati, Santorini

ALATI, which means salt in Greek, features an innovative seafood menu created by the executive chef Melina Chomata. Offering a distinctive dining experience, it showcases two completely different sceneries, for guests to chose from.

Located within the stone walls of a 400 years old winery cave and surrounded by candlelight, indoor dining creates a romantic movie set that invites food lovers to a journey over the Aegean sea and its treasures…
While outdoor dining in the upper terrace, with elements and motives inspired by the Greek summer and expressed in a modern and elegant way, is open to the star gazing with views to the rolling vineyards and the traditional village of Megalohori. The menu consists of fresh fish from the Aegean sea, accented with farm-to-table ingredients that the island is known for, yet always with a refined touch…

Grilled or pan fried fish and crustaceans include lobster, prawns, swordfish, sea bream and many more are accented by starters like tuna tartare with the island’s famous cherry tomatoes, iconic capers and Kalamata olives, while the carefully-chosen wine list offered at ALATI, indulges Santorini and Greece palettes and invites diners to a taste adventure.

Selene, Santorini

Selene, with its 36 years of history, has been acknowledged as a gastronomic and cultural landmark of Santorini for defining and constantly reinventing Contemporary Greek & Cycladic Cuisine.

Led by Michelin-star rated Ettore Botrini, the most important Greek Chef of our time, Selene is entering its brightest phase yet. Influenced by the imposing aesthetics of the old Monastery in which the restaurant is currently based, the colours of the island, the abundance of the Aegean Sea and the perseverance of the rare local ingredients that flourish fearlessly among volcanic rocks, our Executive Chef introduces his culinary philosophy while honouring the legacy of Selene. Wine has always been an essential part of Selene’s journey contributing to a spherical gastronomical experience. The wine list features some of the most sought-after wines of the world with a particular affection to the wines of Santorini. It is curated by Master of Wine, Yiannis Karakasis.

The goal is to immerse our guests in an authentic gastronomic experience which seamlessly combines tradition & creativity, simplicity & ingenuity, earth & sea, nostalgia & innovation and other contradictory concepts that float in the unique, intensely aromatic space occupied by the cuisine of Selene & Ettore Botrini.

An Inspired Menu

Created with passion, the menu is a novel celebration of authenticity, inspired by the local culinary heritage of Santorini. Its refined, contemporary spin on traditional recipes excites the senses with flavours and aromas that masterfully draw from the past in intriguing new ways.

Giorgos Hatzigiannakis and his Selene Restaurant are names connected, as nobody else, with the re-discovery and promotion of the culinary treasures of Santorini. Nowadays, they are continually reinventing the gastronomic image of the island and on the 35th anniversary of Selene, the restaurant is relocated in Fira (capital of Santorini) where all started.

Selene Santorini Cuvée Privée 2020 reflects our love for the authentic character of Santorini wine. It is the result of blind tastings with Master of Wine Yiannis Karakasis, curator of the Selene wine list, to choose a wine that will summarize the essence of the Santorini terroir. Minerality, high intensities and finesse.

Through the excellent work of small family producers, we chose special casks from the Venetsanos winery, one of the most historic and innovative wineries of the island that since 1947 stands out for its very high-quality standards.

Stou Fred Paros

French chef Fred Chesneau decided to bring something that teeters on fine dining to the island—a departure from the more classic Greek tavernas that fill Paros. Set within a small garden full of flowers, trees, and ivy, Stou Fred’s menu changes weekly, but the format—five courses of French-influenced dishes—remains the same. The well-curated wine list (of mostly smaller French producers) draws a loyal crowd, as does the beautiful garden setting.

“We went to the restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect for this special day, the food, the environment and the service. It was a great experience! Extra bonus to meet and speak with Chef! He is lovely and he cooks with all of his love!”

“Un trésor bien gardé niché dans une des ruelles de Parikia, une déco raffinée qui vous invite au voyage. Laissez vous porter par Fred et son équipe! Une belle expérience gustative à faire absolument pour faire du bien à vos papilles si vous êtes sur Paros. Nous avons passé une excellente soirée, un grand merci pour l’accueil, le partage et la qualité des prestations en toute simplicité!”

And, by the way, Stou Fred in Paris now. After having launched his first restaurant “Stou Fred Paros” in the Cyclades in 2017, Fred Chesneau, the Globe-Cooker, decided to play extra time with the creation of the Parisian little brother “Stou Fred Paris”: an address confidential where Fred can restore all the love he has for his country of heart, Greece.

The Venetian Well, Corfu

It’s a new era for one of the most romantic restaurants in Corfu. The “Venetian Well” has been renovated and opened its doors under a new management, ready to dawn a new successful path!

Atmospheric, romantic, with open tasty horizons, overlooking the beautiful Kremasti Square, in front of the historical venetian well.

Its cosy and carefully decorated interior combines good aesthetics with the building’s history and promises unique moments in cold winter nights, while in the summertime the sitting area in Kremasti Square, one of the most picturesque squares of Corfu, will definitely offer you a delicious journey in time!

The “Venetian Well” re-enters the gastronomic map of Corfu and will be open all year.

From “A Gastronome’s Guide to Corfu” in www.greece-is.com

“The Venetian Well  has become one of the island’s most high-end dining spots. Hiding in the shadow of a 16th-century church, this restaurant, shrouded in wall-climbing plants, spills out onto the pretty pink square, its neatly set tables positioned around a well, built six centuries ago by the conquering Venetians.

Its impossibly romantic setting, surrounded by the terracotta, yellow and pink palette of the Old Town’s architecture is enough of a draw to visit this restaurant – but chef Vlachos’ food is as attractive as the Venetian Well’s location. Greek flavours are distilled in elegant dishes made from simple, locally sourced ingredients for a gourmet take on the classics.

Don’t leave without trying the taramosalata (a thick and indulgent fish roe dip served with the restaurant’s own soft white bread) and the scallops on a bed of creamy fava with wild herb-infused foam.”

Nammos

Ask anyone on Mykonos for the name of a top beach club/restaurant and the answer will almost certainly be Nammos

Situated down a winding dusty lane on the edge of pretty Psarou Beach, Nammos is one of the most famous Beach Clubs not only in Greece, but in the whole of Europe. Divided between chic restaurant, beach club, night spot and Sisley spa, Nammos attracts the famous, rich and beautiful. During the daytime, waiters and waitresses, who themselves would not look out of place on a cat walk, meander through the tightly packed sun loungers, ready to serve cocktails and food on the beach. Should you arrive and feel your beach attire is not up to standard, head to the onsite designer store.

There are two sides to the restaurant – garden and terrace – both serving the same menu. The terrace is a more formal looking affair – stone walls, straw and wood roof, white tables, porcelain vases filled with flowers, white washed wood floor, cushioned banquettes with blue and white striped cushions, subdued lighting and candlelit at night. Ideal for weddings. The garden is a true “feet in the sand” experience. Wood tables shaded by large palm trees, which are adorned with fairy lights at night, hurricane style lamps on tables, walkways across sand leading to tables. Garden side stays open throughout the night for eating and dancing under the stars.

Traditional Greek food plus sushi and cuts of meat from Beef Bar Monte Carlo. Try the prawn tempura, spicy crab tartare, pita bread with feta, charcoal grilled octopus, fish in salt crust or any of the delicious steaks from Beef Bar including Wagyu and Kobe beef

At Nammos – it’s all about champagne. Comprehensive list of champagne and rose wines. Obviously other drinks are available but everyone appears to drink champagne or rose wine.

Book one of the four luxurious cabanas. Each cabana has private hot tub, skin care products from renowned Ligne St Barth, a mini bar stocked with champagne, wine and drinks and a personal butler, who will serve you tasty treats throughout the day
