Vroulidia, Sifnos

The Restaurant is located in the area of Vroulidia in the centre of a picturesque blue-green beach and has been open since 2009 seasonally from June to September. It is the family business of Yiannis, Tasia and their two sons, Vassilis and Lefteris. Guests at the beach can enjoy their coffee or drink on the beachfront shop’s loungers.

The restaurant is decorated with Sifnaikan woven textiles and pottery (from the family’s traditional pottery workshop located right next to the restaurant). Breakfast, lunch or dinner are served in this elegant setting, under the pergolas in the courtyard or on the terrace of the Restaurant. The location of the restaurant, the hospitality of the owners and the amazing dishes make the restaurant one of the best on the island, which is renowned for its cuisine.

Tasia cooks for her customers as amazingly and cleanly as she would cook for her home, possessing knowledge and taste, with materials from her garden and her animals. The fresh vegetables, zucchini, aubergines, onions, tomatoes, string bean and Sifnaiki kseromizithra in the salads will delight you.

Try the Sifnaiko Mastelo and the traditional Sifnaiki revithada (chick pea soup) that is cooked in traditional Sifnaikan pottery and cooked slowly in a traditional wood oven.

In addition to the wood-burning oven that lights up every day and emits the aromas of the foods that are simmering, every Sunday we also have lamb, kontosouvli and chicken on a spit.

Other options are the delicious appetizers, pastitsio and stuffed vegetable, fresh fish and seafood (delicious octopuses and calamari), sun-dried mackerel and Tasia’s homemade pastries.

Platanos Taverna, Rhodes

Authentic Greek & Mediterranean Traditional Cooking using the freshest ingredients

Lachania nestles on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This southern part of Rhodes is still relatively un-spoilt and sparsely populated and it is still possible to lie on a beach here during the height of the summer season without seeing another soul! There are numerous beaches to choose from, some of which are known only to the locals who may tell you where they are if you befriend them.

Southern Rhodes has an abundance of such beautiful and unexplored places. In this part of the island can be found lush valleys, beautiful villages, isolated chapels dedicated to the saints and scenery that will take the breathe away.

Lachania is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful villages on the island of Rhodes. It retains its traditional village centre with narrow streets, jostling traditional houses, many of which have been lovingly restored to their former glory. The Platanos Taverna and the Church are the centre of the social life of the village.

For years, the village has been known as the artists’ village of Rhodes.

Wine & Art in Zante

A venue of enhanced creativity

Art & Wine is located at Trilagkada, Zakynthos Island in Greece, near the mountainous settlement of Maries, northwestern of the island. Two different but connected worlds of creation cohabit its spaces; an icon painting workshop and a boutique winery. Both live on the hard work, the passion and the life of Giatras-Gkoumas family, confined in a traditional, refurbished home made of stone at the Zakynthian countryside.

Fine Greek wine from the Ionian, made in the old ways and certified by the modern. In our winery you will find not regular, commercial labels, but only varieties provided within the history and culture of the Heptanese: rare, red Avgoustiatis and lively, golden Vostilidi.

Not far from our winery, another universe lies. Religious painting, iconography and spiritual canvasses give form to images from the holy scriptures, made by Giannis Giatras himself. The creations of the workshop complements with devoutness the offerings of nature, pairing the fruits of the land with the fruits of art.

Art & Wine is not merely another place to see. Our boutique winery and land demonstrates everyday labour, the home of a family, inspiration, a personal story full of wine flavours and divine colours.

Giannis Giatras – Gkoumas was born in 1959 in Maries. Following the family tradition, he bent to agriculture and mastered the craft of quality, homemade wine making, in times when production had not yet been eased by current equipment. Giannis lived in Athens until 1987, where he became keen on hagiography – icon painting – and endowed to the Byzantine School.

Once he returned to the island, Giannis wished to make the best of the lands his family owned for more than 100 years, in an effort to combine the two crafts he possessed. Along with his wife, Despoina, and daughter, Eviana, they began to produce their own wine, focusing on quality to every stage, from planting and the vine-harvest to bottling.

Today, the family has fully renovated its patrimonial property, the gardens, the workshops and the home, for all visitors who value fine wine, as well as those interested in Greek icon painting.

Boutique Art & Wine promises bliss and tranquility, only a few kilometres away from the picturesque settlement of Maries. Come to our home and workshop at the countryside and try selected wines along with homemade treats.

Enjoy a tour – in English – across the estate and vineyard by the Giatras family, navigate its stone-made paths while tasting extraordinary wine and gaze freely on the display of hand drawn icons and frescos.

A warm welcoming awaits all our guests; those who simply wish to know more about wine production and icon painting, as well as those who also wish to purchase from our wine collection or painting workshop.

Volcanic Soil

As a result of one of the greatest volcanic eruptions of all time, Santorini’s strong agricultural tradition is rooted in its soil which has a unique texture and includes lava, volcanic ash and pumice stone. This special composition yields products of distinctive profile and works as a natural shield from diseases. The vineyard in Santorini is self-rooted as it was never affected by phylloxera, and is one of the most ancient in the world with a 3,500-year history.

Dry Farming

Plants on Santorini are not irrigated artificially and rainfall is rare on the island. Therefore, the watering comes from the natural humidity and the sea mist which is absorbed by the volcanic soil, providing the necessary hydration. This method, known as dry farming, results in a low-yield production that creates unique, flavourful and concentrated fava, tomatoes and grapes.

Manual work

From sowing and pruning to harvesting, all of the work in the fields is done by hand. In areas of severe slope, the farmers have created terraces, built with lava stones, known as “pezoules” in order to provide easier access to the vineyards, to facilitate the cultivation and to maximize their capacity to absorb rain water. In the vineyards, the vintners have invented a distinct way of training the vines, called “kouloura”. The vines are kept close to the ground and are given a spiral, basket shape that anchors the grapes and protects them from the strong winds.

Santorini agricultural products are unique in the world!

There are some places in this world which appear to be exactly the opposite: otherworldly.

A breathtaking landscape and unparalleled architecture have rendered Santorini a world-class destination. The story behind the island is equally fascinating; Santorini came about after one of the largest volcanic eruptions on Earth in recorded history. During the eruption, the centre of the island collapsed thousands of feet into the sea, forming the famous Caldera of Santorini. This landmark created spectacular views throughout the island and is truly one of the natural wonders of the world. The destruction left the main island of Thira in a half-moon shape and also created a group of smaller islands that make up Santorini. They are Thirassia and Aspronisi.

You can taste the island’s history through the exceptional wines, fava beans (a special kind of yellow split pea) and tomatoes (tomataki) that are solely produced here.

Known for its breath-taking scenery, Santorini also provides an amazing culinary experience. Due to the unique terroir, the island produces specialties that can only be found here. The anhydrous climate, the volcanic soil, the cooling winds and the dense humid nights, combined with the unique varieties cultivated in the island, contribute to the creation of delicacies nobody can resist.

Inland Ice

“The purest drinking water on earth”….from the top of the world to the top table

The taste of 100,000  years …..

Permanent ice that covers more than 50,000 kms is known as an ice sheet. These sheets exist in only two locations on earth – namely, Antartic and Greenland. The ice sheet of Greenland, also known as the Inland Ice, covers approx. 80% of Greenland. It is generally over 2 km thick and more than 3 km at its thickest point.

In a continuous, natural process, the ice sheet “calves” icebergs which melt and are absorbed into the ocean. Bottling this ice thus retrieves one of the most valuable natural resources that exists – clean drinking water – before it is lost at sea.

The INLAND ICE has been encapsulated for more than 100,000 years – completely isolated from any contact with layers of soil, and was formed long before the first human being set foot within the Arctic Circle. This process of preservation is what has kept this product of nature ina uniquely pristine state – free of any pollutants or contamination.

This places INLAND ICE water in an exceptionally rare category as the purest unprocessed drinking water on earth – with a taste that fully matches its uniqueness.

Ultimate Palate Enhancer

These days, as the world of gastronomy has taken centre stage, consumers are paying more and more attention to the quality of their produce, to how it is grown and where it comes from. Chefs and restaurateurs around the world are finding themselves having to rise to the challenge of delivering new taste experiences that are not easily forgotten.

It is the unique chemical composition and extreme purity of INLAND ICE water that not only gives it such a smooth mouthfeel but also prevents it from binding to any ingredients it is mixed with – a unique characteristic that makes distinct and individual flavours shine  to their fullest potential.

Whether you are on a culinary journey of discovery, or are a chef, developing new flavour combinations, you will find that INLAND ICE water is the ultimate palate enhancer, giving the perfect offset in a world of multiple flavour expressions and constant sensory input.

Sustainability & CO2 Offset

“A priority for us is to produce INLAND ICE as a sustainable product. Harvesting water from such a remote part of the world also needs to make sense on a global environmental scale. The carbon footprint of INLAND ICE is being offset 100% through measurable carbon reductions. In addition to this we are also planting trees in the Climaider forest in Madagascar.”

Our mission is to deliver the world’s finest foods to the most luxurious private yachts and villas wherever they happen to be. Behind this simple intention is a vast wealth of knowledge, experience and logistics.

We know that superyacht and luxury villa owners and their guests are accustomed to demanding and receiving the very best of everything. So we can always meet your delivery times and you can exceed your guests’ expectations – year-round, world-wide.

The Journey of a truffle…

Guilio knows these hills intimately, but he relies on his lagotto dog to find the treasure hidden beneath the soil. From Tuscany, the rare white truffles they uncover will travel around the world. Temperature and humidity must be carefully controlled to preserve the unique aromas that make these among the costliest foods on Earth. It’s a complex, time-consuming journey. But as our customers, and their guests, will agree, it’s worth every minute and mile.

Meat & Game

Before establishing Superyacht Supplies, we spent 30 years in the international meat trade. So if you’re looking for the best Dry Aged Scotch, Wagyu or American beef, wild boar, lamb, veal, pork, poultry, or even venison from HM the Queen’s Balmoral estate in Scotland, we can secure the precise cuts you need, direct from farm, field and forest.

Our global network also includes suppliers of the finest cured meats and charcuterie, including jamón ibérico de bellota and rare three-year-old prosciutto di Parma, plus artisan foie gras from Gascony and other essential delicacies. Our experts select, prepare, pack and deliver all meat and game, so it reaches you in perfect condition.

From Sea to Sea

To the uninitiated, a yacht might seem the easiest place to obtain fish and seafood. At Superyacht Supplies, we understand the realities. That the finest fresh salmon, for example, is wild because its years at sea produce firmer, more even flesh and are line-caught in Scottish rivers. Or that the world’s best lobsters inhabit the cold waters off Nova Scotia, and that deep, chilly Loch Fyne raises langoustines worthy of Michelin stars.

Through our global supplier network, we can obtain whatever fresh, dried, canned or frozen fish and seafood you require, including such traditional specialities as Arbroath Smokies from Angus, and Craster kippers from north-east England. We can also bring you exquisite beluga, oscietra and sevruga caviar, all authentic and CITES certified.

Rooted in knowledge

Shopping in the local market is all very well for tourists. But if you’re in the Maldives, say, you may have trouble finding Sicilian Pomodoro di Pachino tomatoes, Alba truffles, Ardennes girolles or the finest Kalamata olives. And if you’re on a long voyage, buying certain produce in advance can quickly reveal the true meaning of ‘perishable’.

We take the uncertainty out of your fruit and vegetable purchasing. From asparagus to yams, the humble carrot to galangal: whatever you need will be in season somewhere in the world. We’re here to locate it, then deliver it to you – fresh, dried or canned, raw or prepared according to your specific requirements,

A Fresh Approach

We can sympathise with President Charles de Gaulle, who famously asked: ‘How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of cheese?’ Because as well as France, our products covers the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Scandinavia, and includes everything from staples like Parmigiano Reggiano, Camembert and Stilton to Caciocavallo made in Campania from the rare Podolica cows’ milk.

The fact that we can source literally hundreds of different cheeses, yoghurts, creams, butters and milk, and deliver them worldwide in perfect condition, is down to our global contacts, food knowledge and logistics expertise. So if you need an AOC Brie de Melun that’s ready to eat tonight, or a few precious ounces of pule to impress your diners, we’re here to help

Bread….

Whoever and wherever you are, bread remains one of life’s true essentials. We can supply all your basic ingredients, including the finest bread flour, mixes, essences and flavourings and a full range of professional-grade baking equipment. Whether it’s canapés in Cannes, croissants in the Caymans or biscotti in Bermuda, we can call on the world’s finest bakers and patissiers and bring you whatever you need.

Extraordinary Measures

You can rely on us to deliver whatever your guests require, from rare wines, exclusive beers and fine cognacs to handmade Havana cigars including Cohiba and Romeo y Julieta – famously enjoyed by Sir Winston Churchill.

Through our worldwide network of importers and domains, you have access to over 50,000 bottles of wines representing the pinnacle of 60 vintages from across the Old and New Worlds. Less potent, but equally prestigious, we also offer a huge selection of speciality teas, coffees and other non-alcoholic drinks.

Herbs & Spices

Certain dishes demand particular herb and spice combinations to deliver their unique colours, aromas and flavours. We’ll ensure you have all the fresh and dried herbs aboard you could possibly need, from staples like coriander and thyme to specialities including banana leaves and verveine. Our huge range of spices allows you to present your guests with authentic dishes from every form of cuisine.

General Groceries

Everyone has their own favourites, indulgences, comfort foods and reminders of home. Our vast range of groceries lets you cater to your  every whim and desire.
