Lachania

Said to be one of the most surprisingly picturesque villages on the island, Lachania is situated inland, south of the island. Its picture postcard setting, remoteness and tranquility, give Lachania a special charm all of its own. The village is easily accessible by car, located 73 km from the city of Rhodes and 76 km from Diagoras International Airport. A short drive from Lachania, there is the isolated beach of Plimiri and the popular windsurfing resort of Prassonisi.

Lachania is a peaceful, rural village, known for its traditional blue-and-white houses and views to the Aegean Sea. A handful of Greek and Italian restaurants sit in the plane tree-lined central square, while al fresco tavernas and rustic guesthouses overlook the beach. Resident Russian Orthodox monks at the Monastery of St. George offer tours of its chapel.

Lachania village square was used for filming a number of scenes for the 1989 movie “High Season of Forty” (with Jacqueline Bisset and Irene Papa), most of which is set in Lindos.

Lachania Beach House is situated just outside the village, only 10 metres from a sandy-pebbled beach offering  privacy and great views of the Aegean sea. The natural blues of sky and sea combine to provide a canvas of natural wonder.
