Lepitsa

At Lepitsa Beach, 350m from the villa, the small islands and the mountain ranges of the distant Peloponnese  roll into the horizon framing a view of breath-taking natural beauty. Walk past 5 small coves on the way to Lepitsa Beach.. The first is a 150m walk – it is a bit of a scramble to reach the sea, but it feels like a secret place to those who venture there.  The water is divine, clear azure blue and sparkling. There are four more tiny natural coves, one with ladder access into deep water the others a mix of sand and stone.

Then onto the popular and sandy, shallow beach of Lepitsa;  350m from the villa (golf cart hire an option).  It has a simple family run taverna with loungers and umbrellas for a modest price.  Serious sea swimmers and snorkelers favour the deeper waters towards Thini. The sunsets are fantastic.

Portoheli

The most well known village in the region of Argolida.  Made famous by the impossibly glamorous members of the original 1950’s jet set.

Founding members of the ‘Greek Chapter’ Niarchos and Onassis considered Portohelli the perfect distance from Athens for weekend breaks and mini cruses. So Portohelli grew from a sleepy fishing village into a major second home destination for wealthy Athenians.

It is now an important stop on the super yacht circuit cruising the islands of the Saronic Gulf.  The new marina with floating pontoons accommodates boats up to 60m with a 4m draft.  Super yachts moor at anchor in the sheltered bay or stern too on the sea wall.

Portohelli is the last port of call on the daily boat service from Piraeus, Athens, a short water taxi ride from the sophistication of the island of Spetses and like the other three key local villages is within day trip distance of Epidavros Ancient Theatre, the fort town of Nafplion, Ancient Mycenae, the islands of Hydra & Poros.  The caves of Frahthi and Dydima and a host of other ancient sites.

Portoheli village is a busy night time destination with restaurants, tavernas, great beach clubs, simple shops, grocery stores and essential  services.  Sunsets in the region are dramatic and spectacular due to the ever present mountain ranges of southern Peloponnese. A perfct place, for sunset & cocktails…

Ermioni

It is a 10k drive from villa10greece/portoheli to the charming village of Ermeoni. In high season, July to September, it is the holiday and island hopping destination of well to do Athenians and well informed tourists! There is a year round boat service from Athens/Piraeus which underpins the cosmopolitan flavour of the region, through spring to autumn.  A number of small passenger boats leave from the main harbour for day trips to the island of Hydra.

The main harbour is in a deep set bay banked on one side by steep cliffs with a picturesque sea level road winding around to the other side of the village on the other side of the bay.  The ancient archeological ruins in the forest that divides the village add an element of magic that it is hard to find in such abundance anywhere else in the world.

The main port at the entrance of the village, has shops, services, offices,  tavernas coffee shops and moorings for visiting yachts.  There is an excellent market every Thursday, selling fresh and traditional local produce. Small bars, restaurants rooms for rent and further yacht moorings line the seafront beyond the forest.

The residential part of the village sits back on steep hills, rising dramatically from sea level. A great place for an evening stroll after a coffee at sunset..
